Troy Little Italy Winter Carnival Announced

Music, Food and Entertainment in a Weekend Festival –Italian Style

TROY, N.Y. – Troy Little Italy will be hosting a two-day Winter Carnival in the Historic Public Market Place, located between Liberty and Washington Streets from 5th to Hill. The inaugural Winter Carnival will be taking place on Saturday February 28th from 10a.m.–9p.m. and Sunday March 1st, from 12 noon–6p.m.

In a partnership with The City of Troy, a sound stage will be assembled in the center of the market; surrounded by a 10-foot by 20-foot heated tent. Beer, hot drinks and Helmbold’s franks will be available for purchase. Local musicians will be taking the stage to entertain, along with giveaways from B95.5FM and Magic 100.9FM.

Along with music, hot dog eating contests and karaoke, events taking place will include street hockey shoot-out competitions, and the Diaper Derby and Juvenile Jive Road Races.

Other scheduled events in and around the Market Place include ice sculpture demonstrations at the adjacent bocce courts and the Troy Youth Basketball Tournament at the CYO Center on 4th Street. The Italian Community Center will be featuring its renowned Ziti & Meatball Dinner on Saturday only, beginning at 11a.m.

Parking will be available at the Uncle Sam Parking Garage, located at Third Street & Fulton Street and the Italian Community Center, located at 1450 5th Avenue. The Troy City Trolley will offer continuous transportation to and from the various event destinations throughout the weekend.
